PROJECT PARTY DRESS

Good afternoon lovelies ! I come to you with another blog post to tell you of some exciting news ! STORY TIME !

So 2 Sundays ago, My family and I were having dinner at a family friend's and our family friend is turning 40. Now turning 40 is a big deal just like it's a big deal for girls to turn 15 (Quinceañera), 16 (Sweet 16), 18 (debutante), or 21 (ALCOHOL). She planned an extravaganza of a party with lots of balloons, decorations, food, and a photo booth ! And as for fashion, she has 2 dresses. The first is a short fuchsia dress with a long train. SO DRAMATIC ! It's one shoulder and it's rhinestoned. It's very prom, but this is her party, so I can't say much. The second dress is green and long, and that's pretty much all I know because she wants it to be a surprise. Now the shoulder on the fuchsia dress was too big, so she asked me to tighten and fix it for her. Towards the end of the night, she expressed to me that since both of her dresses are long, she doesn't have a short dress to party with all her girlfriends. So she asked me to design AND MAKE her a party dress that she can wear to dance with all her friends ! SO I GOT SKETCHY ! I came up with 3 ideas, and one design caught her eye (well all of them caught her eye 'cuz one had a really low cleavage, and the other one had the highest slit) and she chose this.

SORRY IF THE LIGHTING IS BAD !

It is going to be separates instead of one dress. The top is sleeveless, boat neck, and in pearl white. I'm going to be using silk charmeuse because it appealed to her more than the jersey. For the skirt, I'm going to be using black lining, and black tulle to create this very volumized, and dramatic skirt. I'm also going to embellish the skirt with feathers. The main accessory for me is the necklace because it's going to serve as the neck line as well. 

I'm so excited because this is my first ever, major client (Can I say that?) and my first ever dress that I'm making ! This is the perfect opportunity to learn, and to see what my future career as a fashion designer is actually going to be like and I'm ecstatic ! This is also perfect practice for Project Runway 'cuz I only got until May 25 to make this (It will also help me with my time management issues). I love me a challenge !
